Core responsibilities:

• Triage, assess, and prioritize patients in the emergency department.
• Perform rapid and ongoing patient assessments; initiate and modify nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency interventions per protocol.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and patient status; recognize and respond to changes.
• Assist with procedures (e.g., wound care, splinting, intubation support) and coordinate diagnostic testing.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and discharge instructions accurately and timely.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and hospital policies; maintain proper equipment and supply readiness.
• Participate in patient handoffs and shift reports to ensure continuity of care.

Required certifications (typical, confirm prior to assignment):

• Current RN licensure (state or compact as required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS and/or PALS as required by unit

Credentials and orientation:

• Must meet facility credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to start date.
