Summary:
The Director of Cardiovascular Services is responsible for overseeing and directing the cardiovascular service line for the CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System ministry. The Director participates and drives decisions related to service line business strategy and operations and is responsible for measurable service line growth, quality of patient care, efficiency of operations, financial management of the service line, and strategic planning.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as the business-focused subject matter expert on the development of the service line, including the expansion of existing services, development of new products and services, identifying opportunities and overall growth strategy.
- Responsible for knowledge of healthcare trends and integrates such knowledge into strategic and long-range planning for the ministry.
- Responsible for ongoing analysis of service line dynamics and market share changes, product line performance and overall tracking of business initiatives and competitive intelligence.
- Ensures the proper level of service line performance reporting (e.g. clinical, economic, and operational) to provide insight for managing quality and performance of the service line.
- Coordinates goals for patient care and clinical services that align with service line’s core objectives and company quality objectives.
- Key responsibilities include translating data analysis into realistic business strategy as well as providing input into business development, business planning, budgets, managed care contracting and partnerships.
- Assists in the development of best practice models for the service line and will be responsible for assisting in moving the organization forward in an increasingly competitive and cost-sensitive environment.
- Demonstrates collaboration with physicians, nurses, clinical and administrative support services fostering productive and supportive working relationships, including essential business partners within the System Office, Operations Group, Ministries and Hospitals.
- Guides the identification of a standard series of services and processes to be delivered by market size and characteristics.
- Leads the development of integrated service line delivery models by service line that span all points of access and integration, e.g. clinics, physician practices, acute and post-acute settings, urgent care settings.
- Guides the development and adoption of tools and services for establishing resource allocation priorities and requirements for the service line.
- Serves as a change agent, assisting service line leaders and staff to assimilate change in processes and practices.
- Works closely with market or hospital department leaders within the service line providing guidance, support and sharing operational expertise.
- Builds rapport and trust with team members and key stakeholders in matrixed environment.
- Communicates vision in that energizes, mobilizes, influences, and builds accountability.
- Identifies and diagnoses problems early, and brings the right people together to formulate and execute a solution.
- Builds consensus and provides strong leadership in a team environment, with the highest level of professionalism and personal integrity.
- Director has operational control over Critical Care areas, Cardiac step-down units (CPCU/PCU), Cath lab, and Cardiac Rehab.
Requirements:
Education/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree is preferred
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required
- High personal, ethical, and professional conduct.
- Strong grasp of business and financial principles
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to serve as productive member and leader of team
- Ability to develop and present complex concepts to large audiences
- Excellent computer skills, including word processing, MS Excel, database, graphics, and other relevant software
Experience
- Five (5) years or greater working in a health care setting; cardiovascular services experience is required.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing and directing departmental operations and human resources, including performance evaluation, training, and professional development.
- A proven track record in the development of quality clinical services.
- Previous experience guiding the design and deployment of service line development plans; experience in developing horizontal and vertical integrations.
- Professional experience collaborating with essential business partners. A track record of successfully managing physician relationships, finding common ground, and building commitment around a shared agenda with physician and leadership.
- A strong knowledge of, and experience with budgeting, financial management, and provider billing.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Current RN licensure or State licensure (LSRT) and national ARRT accreditation required (RT(R)). For new graduates ONLY: Can work with a LSRT permit and must obtain ARRT within 90 days of hire.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
