Join a busy emergency department at Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, LA, covering shifts as a locum tenens Emergency Medicine physician for SCP Health - Locums. Coverage begins September 15, 2026 and continues on an ongoing basis. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are provided.
What the shift looks like
- Variable shift schedule supporting a high-volume ED: the coverage model consists of 38 physician hours per day (Monday–Thursday) and 12 NP/PA hours (Friday–Sunday).
- The ED manages about 46,000 visits a year (roughly 126 patients per day).
- Department setup: 22 ER beds plus 12 hall beds. Medhost is the EMR.
Clinical responsibilities
- Provide front-line emergency care in a fast-paced environment.
- Supervise and collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
- Cross-credentialing required across Willis-Knighton sites (WK Medical Center, WK South, WK Bossier, WK Pierremont).
- Participate fully in the local coverage model and patient-flow management.
Qualifications and requirements
- Board eligible or board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM). New graduates who have completed residency are welcome.
- Active, unrestricted Louisiana medical license required. DEA registration with a Louisiana address and an active CDS are required.
- Required certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS (BLS may be waived for ABEM-certified physicians with MOC; board-eligible candidates should have BLS).
- Must provide case logs for the past two years and CMEs from the last two years.
- Required immunizations: flu and TB.
- Malpractice limits: $100K/$300K; malpractice is covered by the assignment. Enrollment in the LPCF is required.
Privileges and compliance
- Hospital privileges at Willis-Knighton are required and cross-credentialing across multiple facilities will be part of the assignment.
