Locum Tenens Obstetrician-Gynecologist (In-House Call) — Scranton, PA

We’re seeking an OB/GYN to provide in-house, call-only locum coverage at a Scranton, PA hospital starting July 5, 2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis while the facility conducts a long-term permanent search. This is inpatient coverage with a 5-minute response time; travel, lodging and malpractice insurance are provided by the vendor.

What you’ll be doing

• Primary responsibility is in-house call coverage: assigned rounding on patients, managing about eight admissions/assigned patients per day, and handling roughly 15 phone consults.
• Deliver routine obstetric care including low-risk pregnancies, fetal heart rate interpretation (NST, CST, FSE), routine vaginal deliveries and low-forceps, and decision-making for cesarean sections.
• Manage complicated deliveries and operative procedures such as cesarean deliveries, breech and multiple births, abruptions, VBACs, and repair of 3rd/4th degree lacerations.
• Perform major/operative procedures (including diagnostic surgery) like ectopic pregnancy management, oophorectomy, cystectomy, and extensive lysis of adhesions.
• Preferred experience with high-risk pregnancies and open surgical gynecology.

Facility & support

• Inpatient setting using Cerner EMR.
• Nursing support: approximately 10 RNs.
• Temporary hospital privileges are available; permanent hospital privileges are not required.

Requirements

• PA medical license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) accepted.
• Board certification is not required.
• Required certifications: BLS and ABLS.
