Locum Advanced Gastroenterology Physician needed in the Midwest

We are hiring a Board Certified or Board Eligible Advanced Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens assignment beginning August 2026. This role provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient GI coverage with an emphasis on advanced endoscopic procedures and hospital-based care within a collaborative, well-supported team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour coverage including inpatient consults, hospital service duties, and call.
• Perform advanced and routine endoscopic procedures during inpatient and outpatient encounters.
• Independently manage complex consults and procedural care in the hospital setting.

Typical procedures

• Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
• Colonoscopy
• Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy and other advanced GI procedures as needed

Logistics and scheduling

• Primarily no clinic responsibilities for most locum providers
• Flexible scheduling with opportunities for ongoing vacation and future coverage
• Optional 1–2 day orientation prior to start

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Fellowship training or substantial experience in advanced endoscopy preferred
• Comfortable independently managing inpatient consults and advanced procedures
• Active state medical license preferred; candidates needing licensure will be considered
