Locum Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon — Level III Trauma, Davenport IA (Travel/Lodging & Malpractice Covered)

We’re seeking an experienced orthopedic trauma surgeon to provide inpatient locum tenens coverage in Davenport, IA (with responsibilities at the Silvis campus as needed). This is an ASAP–ongoing opportunity covering clinical duties plus call, with 24-hour shifts (7a–7a), typically 7–10 shifts per month. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide inpatient orthopedic trauma call coverage for Davenport and Silvis.
• Manage consults, admissions, and rounding for trauma patients.
• Perform orthopedic trauma procedures including fracture fixation, ORIF, and external fixation, along with emergency and same-day add-on cases.
• Be available to respond to pages within 30 minutes while on call.
• Work collaboratively with RNs, APPs (8), and orthopedic surgery colleagues in the OR.

Patient and workload snapshot

• Average daily ED volume: 230–250.
• Admissions and rounding are required.
• Case mix focuses on orthopedic trauma and fracture care.
• No total joint arthroplasty cases expected.

Facility and support

• Level III trauma center using Cerner EMR.
• Specialty backup available from orthopedic surgery colleagues.
• OR nursing and APP support are provided.

Requirements

• Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Active IA and IL license, or active IA or IL license with participation in the IMLC, or an active Universal License (IMLC).
• Prior experience in orthopedic trauma required.
• Willingness to work at both Davenport and Silvis campuses.
• Clean malpractice history and background check.
