Location: Carbondale, Illinois

Position summary:
Join a collaborative OB/GYN hospitalist team to provide expert inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care, improve patient safety and satisfaction, and support local obstetricians. This full-time hospitalist role emphasizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and work/life balance.

Key details:

  • Compensation: $300,000–$340,000 annual salary plus full benefits
  • Schedule: Typically 7–9 24-hour shifts per month (approx. 21 days off monthly); build your own schedule
  • No office management responsibilities and no traditional on-call duties

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient OB/GYN care for pregnant patients and manage obstetric emergencies
  • Coordinate with local obstetricians, nursing staff, and hospital departments
  • Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and clinical teams

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Illinois medical license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Experience and competence managing obstetric emergencies and inpatient OB/GYN care
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care skills
  • Commitment to clinical quality improvement
