Primary Care Medical Director (Physician) — Amherst/Northampton, MA

We’re looking for a seasoned clinician to provide hands-on clinical leadership across our primary care practices in Northampton and Amherst, MA. In this role you’ll spend roughly 70% of your time seeing patients and 30% on administrative leadership—mentoring providers, optimizing care delivery, and helping shape the future of our practice.

What you’ll do

• Lead efforts to maintain and raise clinical standards, quality, and patient safety.
• Mentor, evaluate, and support primary care providers to promote professional growth and consistent care.
• Oversee regulatory compliance and partner on risk management.
• Streamline workflows, staffing models, and care delivery to improve efficiency and access.
• Drive population health and value-based care initiatives in collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.
• Use EHR data and other analytics to identify opportunities, improve outcomes, and measure progress.
• Enhance patient experience and manage service recovery when issues arise.

Time commitment

• Active clinical practice: ~70%
• Administrative/leadership responsibilities: ~30%

• Salary range: $250,000–$300,000 plus bonuses

Who we’re looking for

• MD or DO with an active Massachusetts license or willingness to obtain one
• Board certified or eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• 2–5 years of outpatient primary care experience
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and strong communication skills
• Prior experience as a Medical Director or Lead Physician preferred
• Background in population health, payer programs, or practice transformation
• Training or experience in leadership, quality improvement, or informatics is a plus
