Locums Gastroenterologist — Weekend-Focused 24-hr Call (Richmond, VA)

Location: Richmond, Virginia (hospital-based)

Position summary:
Provide inpatient gastroenterology consults and 24-hour call coverage in a well-supported hospital setting. Ideal for board-certified gastroenterologists seeking consistent weekend-heavy locum coverage with low daily volume.

Schedule:

• 24-hour shifts (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.)
• 12 days per month, primarily weekends
• Average patient volume: ~3 patients/day
• EMR: Meditech

Key responsibilities:

• Provide inpatient GI consults and manage patients on call
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute GI conditions
• Perform procedures as clinically indicated
• Collaborate with hospitalists, nursing, and ancillary teams
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in the EMR

Requirements:

• Board certified in Gastroenterology
• Active Virginia medical license or ability to obtain
• DEA and CSR or ability to obtain
• Prior inpatient GI and call experience preferred
