Location: Las Cruces, NM 88011 — Locum Tenens, ASAP – Ongoing
Service Setting: Inpatient and outpatient
Coverage: Clinical plus beeper call (1:10), 30-minute response time
Reason: Scheduling need
Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance: Provided by vendor
Scope and Volume
- Typical caseload: ~4 patients per day
- EMR: Cerner
- Support staff: 20 RNs, 12 PA/NPs, 1 office staff
Scope of Practice
- Provide general and regional anesthesia across adult, pediatric, obstetric, neurosurgical (spine), and complex orthopedic cases
- Manage airway and ventilation intraoperatively
- Evaluate and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues
- Perform and document spinal and epidural anesthesia and other regional techniques
- Participate in on-call coverage and weekend shifts as scheduled
Required Procedures (expected)
- General anesthesia (adult and pediatric)
- Spinal and epidural anesthesia
- Neurosurgical/spine and complex orthopedic cases
- Ventilation management and hemodynamic stabilization
Preferred/Additional Skills
- Regional anesthesia for surgical procedures
- Obstetrical anesthesia
- Head and thoracic procedures (excluding open heart)
- Complex vascular cases (excluding open heart)
- Pain management techniques, post-op epidurals and extremity blocks
- Central and arterial line placement
Qualifications
- Board certified (BC) CRNA
- Active New Mexico nursing license required
- Active DEA registration
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Minimum 1 year of CRNA experience
- Comfortable practicing independently and performing regional blocks; case logs preferred
Privileges and Compliance
- Hospital privileges not required; temporary privileges available upon request
Key Responsibilities
- Safely administer general and regional anesthesia and manage perioperative airway/ventilation
- Document anesthesia care, regional blocks, and intraoperative management
- Provide anesthesia across the age spectrum and a variety of surgical specialties
- Fulfill scheduled clinical shifts and beeper call obligations as assigned
