Locums Hospitalist w/ ICU — 7-on/7-off Inpatient Role in West Branch, MI (Epic, Broad ICU Procedures)

Join a team providing inpatient hospitalist and ICU coverage in West Branch, Michigan. This locum opportunity is ideal for a physician comfortable managing critically ill adults in a community hospital—you’ll work a 7-on/7-off schedule and handle a wide range of ICU procedures.

Assignment details

• Location: West Branch, MI
• Position type: Locums hospitalist with ICU responsibilities
• Practice setting: 100% inpatient
• Schedule: 7 on / 7 off
• Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM with nighttime call
• Orientation: one day
• Proctoring: two to three days required onsite; five successfully proctored cases required for each procedure that needs hospital privileges
• EMR: Epic with Dragon dictation

What you’ll do

• Provide comprehensive inpatient hospitalist and ICU care for adult patients.
• Manage critically ill patients, including ventilator management, respiratory failure, and assessment for intubation.
• Perform daily rounds, admissions, consultations, and discharges.
• Respond to patient emergencies and cover overnight call.
• Work closely with nursing, respiratory therapy, specialists, and other ancillary teams to deliver high-quality care.
• Document promptly and accurately in Epic using Dragon.

Procedures you should be comfortable performing

• Moderate sedation
• Lumbar puncture
• Endotracheal intubation and extubation
• Ventilator management, including weaning and oxygen therapy
• Paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Chest tube insertion
• PICC and central venous line placement
• Arterial line insertion and removal
• Tracheostomy care, including tube changes
• Management of tension pneumothorax
• External pacing (temporary epicardial, transvenous, and transcutaneous)

Proctoring requirement

• Five successfully proctored cases are required for each applicable procedure that requires hospital privileges.

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Significant critical care / ICU experience required.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Active Michigan medical license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC).
