Required qualifications
- Board certified (BC) in Pediatrics
- Massachusetts medical license
- PALS certification
- Fellowship preferred
Clinical duties
- Provide neonatal and pediatric inpatient care, including management of critically ill newborns and children
- Perform and supervise procedures: intubation (ETT/NT), central line and umbilical catheter (UVC/UAC) placement, arterial lines, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion, paracentesis, thoracentesis, exchange transfusion, suturing, circumcision, needle decompression
- Manage respiratory support and ventilators (neonatal and pediatric; invasive and non-invasive)
- Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections; provide resuscitation and stabilization
- Collaborate with nursing, respiratory therapy, and subspecialty teams
Required procedures (must be able to perform)
- Non-invasive ventilation management (NeoPuff)
- Newborn and pediatric ventilation management (acute and chronic)
- Intubation (newborn, pediatric)
- Conscious and deep sedation
- Central line, arterial line, UVC, UAC
- Lumbar puncture, paracentesis, thoracentesis
- Chest tube insertion, needle pneumothorax decompression
- X-ray interpretation
- PA catheter insertion
- Exchange transfusion
- Suturing minor lacerations
- Circumcision
- Swallow study interpretation
Preferred experience
- Nursery Level II/III or NICU experience
- Invasive (ETT) and non-invasive (BiPAP/CPAP) ventilation management
- Use of inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) and ECMO familiarity
- Exchange transfusions, hemodialysis catheter placement
- Management of acute volume/BP issues
- Attendance at all and high-risk C-sections
- Broad experience with diagnostic/therapeutic taps and invasive monitoring (central, arterial, PA catheter)
