Locum tenens opportunity in Eureka, CA (95501) for a board-certified or board-eligible hematology/oncology physician to provide combined inpatient and outpatient clinical care beginning Oct 1, 2026 and ongoing. Coverage includes weekday clinic and inpatient duties with scheduled beeper call.

Schedule and call

• Mon–Fri: 8:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00 (split shift, 1-hour unpaid lunch)
• On-call: Mon–Fri 17:00–08:00 (phone only); weekends 24-hour phone call (one week in three)
• Call type: Beeper; call ratio 1:3; expected phone response 20–30 minutes
• Coverage type: Clinical + call

Clinical scope and volume

• Service setting: Inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology
• Average daily patient volume: 12–15; typical case mix includes hematology and oncology patients
• Responsibilities: manage inpatient and outpatient care, chemotherapy and infusion treatments, participate in weeknight/weekend phone call coverage, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a COC-accredited program, and maintain accurate documentation in Epic.

• Onsite support staff: RNs (10), MAs (4), PA/NPs (3), office staff (5–6)

Privileges and credentialing

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available for candidates with clean files

Qualifications

• Board certification required (or board-eligible within 3–5 years of residency)
• California medical license and DEA registration required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum two years of hospital clinical experience in specialty
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
