Job Description
We’re seeking a board-certified Physician Assistant to join a busy neurosurgery team in Tampa, FL for a locum tenens assignment with the potential to extend long-term. This role supports both adult and pediatric patients in an inpatient setting, working closely alongside five neurosurgeons and four advanced practice providers.
Location and schedule
- Tampa, FL 33607
- Start: ASAP – ongoing coverage
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday with weekend call, or a 7-on/7-off rotation
- On-call: Weekends and nights on a 1:4 or 1:5 rotation; beeper call
- Coverage type: Clinical care plus call responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
- First assist in neurosurgical procedures
- Perform inpatient rounding and consults for adult and pediatric patients
- Manage phone consults as needed
- Cover call nights and weekends as scheduled
- Collaborate with the neurosurgery team to ensure continuity of care
Facility and support
- Level II trauma center
- EMR: Cerner
- Support staff: 4 PAs/NPs on the service
- Patient mix: Adult and pediatric neurosurgery cases
Requirements
- Board-certified (BC) PA in good standing
- Active Florida license
- Minimum one year of neurosurgery experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications
Logistics and coverage
- Reason for coverage: Vacancy while a permanent search is underway
- Agency-provided travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance
- Hospital privileges: Not required; temporary privileges not available
