Locums Emergency Medicine Physician — Freestanding ED, APP Support, Low-Acuity, No Call (Independence, MO)

Location: Independence, Missouri — freestanding emergency department

Setting and patient mix

• Freestanding ED with primarily low-acuity, urgent care–level presentations and occasional higher-acuity walk-ins
• Department: 0 treatment rooms, 1 triage space
• Affiliated hospital is a Level II Trauma Center; freestanding site is not a trauma center
• Average volume: ~1.6 patients/hour across the department
• Admission/transfer rate: ~5% or less

Shifts and coverage

• Day: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM; Night: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Single-physician coverage per shift with APP support
• Days and nights available
• No call required

Clinical responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage emergency and urgent conditions appropriate to a low-acuity ED
• Perform standard ED procedures within scope of practice
• Identify, stabilize, and arrange transfer/escalation for higher-acuity patients
• Collaborate with APPs, nursing, and support staff to maintain efficient patient flow
• Complete accurate medical documentation for all encounters

Support and resources

• Standard ED nursing and ancillary staff
• Advanced Practice Provider coverage during physician shifts

Required qualifications

• Board certified in Emergency Medicine
• Active Missouri medical license or ability to obtain
• Current DEA registration
• Current ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications (as required)
