Locums Gastroenterologist — Weekend-Focused 24-hr Call, Low Volume Hospital Role in Richmond, VA

We’re seeking a board-certified gastroenterologist to provide hospital-based locum coverage in Richmond, Virginia. This role is a great fit for someone who wants steady weekend call work in a well-supported environment with a light inpatient census.

What you’ll do

• Provide inpatient GI consults and cover 24-hour call shifts.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a range of GI conditions.
• Perform procedures when clinically indicated.
• Work closely with hospitalists, nursing, and ancillary teams to coordinate patient care.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in the Meditech EMR.

Schedule and volume

• Hospital-based practice.
• 24-hour call shifts (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.).
• Coverage needed about 12 days per month, primarily weekends.
• Average volume is low — roughly 3 patients per day.

Requirements

• Board certified in Gastroenterology.
• Active Virginia medical license or the ability to obtain one.
• DEA and CSR or ability to obtain.
• Prior inpatient GI and call experience preferred.
