Locums Cardiac Surgery NP or PA — Temp-to-Hire, Inpatient/OR (Bridgeport, CT)

Join a leading cardiac surgery program in Bridgeport, Connecticut as a Locum Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant supporting inpatient care and the operating room. This role is a strong temp-to-hire opportunity for clinicians who want to work with a collaborative cardiac surgery team and potentially transition to a permanent position.

Compensation

• $125 per hour

Schedule & Team

• Three 13-hour shifts per week
• Shift options: 7:00 AM–8:00 PM or 7:00 PM–8:00 AM
• Rotating weekends approximately every 3–6 weeks
• Work alongside a collaborative group of eight Advanced Practice Providers

What you’ll do

• Manage inpatient cardiac surgery patients across the perioperative continuum
• First assist in the cardiac OR when applicable
• Perform postoperative assessments and conduct daily rounds
• Manage chest tubes and other postoperative cardiac procedures within your scope of practice
• Coordinate care with cardiothoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Document patient encounters in Epic

What we’re looking for

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Active Connecticut NP or PA license, or the ability to obtain one
• Prior inpatient cardiac surgery experience preferred
• Cardiac surgery OR first-assist experience is a plus; strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience is encouraged to apply
• Experience with chest tube insertion and management is required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
