Locum tenens opportunity in Corsicana, TX (75110) covering inpatient and outpatient general surgery with 24-hour in-house call on specified weekends. Assignment dates: Sep 4–6, 2026 and Sep 11, 2026 (Fri–Sun coverage; specific shifts: Sep 4–6 and Sep 11). Call response time: 30 minutes. Coverage reason: scheduling need. Agency provides travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance.

Clinical Expectations

• Provide comprehensive general surgical care including evaluation, operative management (laparoscopic and open), post-operative management, and follow-up.
• Average caseload: 1–3 patients/day with 1–3 admissions; 1–3 phone consults/day.
• Rounding on assigned patients and collaborating with nursing and office staff to ensure continuity and patient safety.
• Maintain accurate medical records in Medhost and adhere to hospital protocols.

Procedures Required (core competencies)

• General adult surgery, laparoscopic procedures, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication
• Head/neck procedures (including thyroid), chest wall/pleural procedures, breast surgery
• GI endoscopy (upper, lower, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy)
• Hand surgery, chest tube and central line placement, ventilation management
• Vascular surgery

Preferred Skills

• Trauma, minor orthopedics, repair of umbilical defects
• Fellowship training is preferred

Facility & Support

• EMR: Medhost
• Support staff: 1 RN and 1 office staff per shift
• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available

Credentials

• TX medical license required
• ACLS certification required
• Board certification not required
