Location: Davenport, IA — Inpatient OB hospitalist (Locum Tenens)
Coverage: In-house call only; 24-hour shifts on weekdays (weekend coverage welcome) — call ratio 1:5
Patient and Clinical Profile
- Case mix: Low- and high-risk OB/GYN, labor & delivery, and gynecology
- Patient mix: ~40% low-risk, 60% high-risk pregnancies
- Volume: Variable daily census; ~65–80 deliveries per month; ~2–5 nursery admissions/day
- Services: FHR interpretation, OB ultrasound, amniocentesis, routine and complicated deliveries, VBACs, repair of 3rd/4th degree lacerations, surgical gynecology
- Rounding required
Facility and Support
- Hospital level: Trauma III
- EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic in Sep 2026)
- On-site backup: 1–2 CNMs; resident on call
- Support: Dedicated L&D, postpartum, OR, ER teams
Privileges, Credentialing & Compliance
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available
- Credentialing timeline: 30–90 days
Requirements
- Board certification in OB/GYN (BC)
- Iowa medical license or participation in IMLC
- Fetal monitoring certification
- Two supervisory references, clean malpractice/background checks
- Proficiency in Cerner (Epic experience a plus)
Primary Duties
- Triage and manage Genesis OB patients, including ER OB calls
- Provide unit rounds for inpatient OB patients
- Cover “no-doc” patients (typically ≤1/day)
- Perform circumcisions if willing (not mandatory)
