Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program.
- License/Certifications: Current, in-good-standing Alaska LPN license. Current BCLS/BLS. IV certification required. Must pass and maintain position competencies.
- Experience: New graduates accepted; 1 year hospital or long-term care experience preferred.
- Equipment/Tools: Familiarity with office machines (multi-line phone, computer, fax) and clinical equipment (Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, pulse oximetry).
- Skills:
- Communication: Read, write, and interpret clinical and regulatory documents; communicate effectively with physicians, medical staff, patients, families, and multicultural populations.
- Mathematical: Basic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide), ratios, percentages; interpret simple graphs.
- Reasoning: Solve practical problems using written, oral, or diagram instructions; adapt to limited-standardization situations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care within LPN scope of practice in a long-term care setting.
- Deliver patient-centered care that respects patient rights and dignity.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members.
- Perform assignments and duties appropriate to the long-term care area; actual tasks will depend on unit assignment.
