Shift: Nights (three 12-hour shifts)
Hours/Rate: $2,052 / 36 hours

Required:

  • Registered Nurse, stroke certified
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience
  • Able to work three 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and every other holiday

Unit/Patient Population:

  • 4 Medical: 25-bed unit (11 private, 7 semi-private)
  • Primary population: stroke patients (mostly non-TPA)
  • Also admits comfort care/hospice, post-operative patients (including amputations), patients with drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
  • Manages heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis patients, and COPD exacerbations

Staffing/Ratio:

  • Typical nursing ratio: 5:1 on days; 5–6:1 on nights
  • Occasional assignment of one total care patient per nurse

Duties:

  • Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care to the above patient mix
  • Manage IV drips (including heparin), wound care, post-op monitoring, tube and drain care
  • Assess and manage altered mental status, CIWA protocols, AKI, dialysis coordination, and COPD exacerbations
  • Coordinate care for stroke patients and support comfort care/hospice needs
  • Communicate with interdisciplinary team and document per facility standards
