Locums Hospitalist (Family Medicine) — 7-on/7-off, Teaching Role in Portsmouth NH

Join a collaborative hospital team in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, as a locum hospital medicine physician. This role is well suited to family medicine physicians who enjoy inpatient care, teaching, and mentoring in a collegial academic environment.

Schedule and logistics

• 7-on / 7-off block schedule; physicians expected to work seven consecutive shifts, ideally two-week blocks per month
• 10- and 12-hour shifts available; day, night, and rotating coverage
• Typical census: 16–20 patients per physician per day
• Two dedicated nocturnists; closed ICU
• No procedures required
• EMR: Meditech
• Ongoing teaching and mentoring opportunities with residents and learners

Core responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient hospital medicine for adults
• Admit, evaluate, manage, and discharge hospitalized patients
• Conduct daily rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans
• Provide cross-coverage as needed and collaborate with specialists and nursing staff
• Participate in medical education and mentor trainees
• Contribute to hospital operations, quality improvement, and timely, accurate documentation

Qualifications

• Board certified in Family Medicine (ABFM) or Internal Medicine (ABIM)
• Active New Hampshire medical license or ability to obtain one
• Strong inpatient hospital medicine experience
• Interest in teaching and mentoring preferred
• Ability to work consecutive 7-day blocks and cover day, night, and rotating call
