Locums Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery PA or NP — Inpatient, Springfield OH (Level II Trauma)

Seeking an experienced Locum Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide inpatient cardiothoracic and vascular surgical coverage in Springfield, Ohio. This role supports adult and geriatric patients at a Level II Trauma Center, managing perioperative and acute surgical needs in a high-acuity setting.

• Average daily census: ~20–26 patients

Schedule & call

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Weekday floor/beeper call: 3:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage required: Saturday & Sunday 24-hour onsite support (floor and/or OR call)
• Call types: in-house and beeper/phone

Key responsibilities

• Provide post-operative and ongoing inpatient care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients
• Perform daily rounds, manage hospitalized patients, and coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Assist in cardiothoracic and vascular procedures and provide emergency surgical support as needed
• Evaluate and manage consults from the ED, Cath Lab, and inpatient teams
• Perform vein harvesting and retrieve vascular tissue for bypass conduits
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and prescribe medications as appropriate
• Communicate and collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and ancillary staff to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Board certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• Prior vascular surgery experience required
• Active Ohio license required at time of application (candidates needing to obtain license will not be considered)
• Active ACLS certification
• Active DEA registration
