Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon — 24Hour Call Coverage (Ogden, UT)

We’re looking for a Cardiovascular/Thoracic surgeon to provide locum tenens call coverage in Ogden, Utah, at a Level II Trauma Center. This role is ideal for a surgeon comfortable managing both cardiac and thoracic cases, handling independent call responsibilities, and working within a team-oriented hospital environment.

What to expect

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage.
• Trauma level: Level II Trauma Center.
• EMR: Meditech.
• Typical patient volume: ~10–12 patients per week.
• Consults: ~3–5 per week.
• Surgical volume: ~1–3 cases per week (usually 1 cardiac case and 2–3 thoracic cases).
• Annual cardiac volume: ~80 heart cases per year.
• The hospital provides a vein harvest team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients.
• Evaluate and manage pre‑ and post‑operative care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients.
• Perform cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures as needed.
• Respond to consults and offer surgical recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with hospital staff and the surgical care team.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Meditech.

Required qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery.
• Active Utah medical license and Utah DEA registration.
• Demonstrated experience performing both cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
• Comfortable providing independent call coverage in a Level II Trauma Center.
