Locums Hospital Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Locums Hospital Medicine Physician for an ongoing opportunity in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This position is ideal for a physician who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and participating in a collaborative hospital environment.

Position Highlights

• 7 on / 7 off block schedule
• 10- and 12-hour shifts available
• Physicians must be willing to work 7 consecutive shifts, preferably in blocks of 2 weeks per month
• Day and night coverage
• 16–20 patients per physician per day
• 2 dedicated nocturnists
• Closed ICU
• No procedures required
• EMR: Meditech
• Teaching and mentoring opportunities

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient hospital medicine care.
• Evaluate and manage hospitalized adult patients.
• Conduct daily rounds and coordinate treatment plans.
• Manage admissions, discharges, and cross-coverage.
• Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in medical education and mentor residents/learners.
• Engage in hospital operations and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM) or Family Medicine (ABFM)
• Active New Hampshire medical license or ability to obtain
• Strong inpatient hospital medicine experience
• Interest in teaching and mentoring preferred
• Ability to work consecutive 7-day blocks
• Comfortable with day, night, and rotating call coverage
