Job Description
Join a busy Level I Trauma Center in Palm Springs, CA for an ongoing locums opportunity covering Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. You’ll work in a high-acuity, academic teaching environment—managing complex trauma patients, performing emergency general surgery, and supervising critically ill surgical patients in the ICU.
Compensation: $4,300 per shift

Clinical responsibilities
Trauma & Acute Care Surgery
- Respond to trauma activations and manage both operative and non-operative trauma patients
- Perform emergency general surgery and other acute care procedures
- Evaluate and manage acute care surgery consultations
- Participate in inpatient rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care
- Contribute to trauma quality assurance and performance improvement efforts
Surgical Critical Care
- Manage critically ill trauma and surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU
- Provide surgical ICU coverage and lead critical care management plans
- Collaborate closely with anesthesia, nursing, emergency medicine, and specialty services
Teaching responsibilities
- Supervise and teach General Surgery residents and Surgical Critical Care fellows
- Provide bedside teaching during trauma activations, rounds, OR cases, and ICU care
- Participate in M&M conferences, didactics, simulation sessions, and other educational activities as appropriate
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship training in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care required
- Current or eligible for California medical license
