Locums Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon — Level II Trauma Center, Amarillo TX (Ongoing Shift-Based)

495-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center in Amarillo, TX seeking locum Trauma & Acute Care Surgery coverage. Ongoing, shift-based opportunity within a multidisciplinary surgical program.

Facility and Schedule

• 495-bed hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Ongoing locum (shift-based) coverage
• 24-hour shifts including call
• 30-minute callback response time when on backup call
• In-house trauma and ACS coverage with scheduled backup call

Case Volumes (annual)

• ~1,618 trauma activations
• >1,000 trauma admissions
• ~500 acute care surgery operative cases

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage trauma and emergency general surgery patients
• Perform operative and non-operative management of traumatic injuries
• Provide acute care surgery consultations and procedures
• Participate in trauma activations and multidisciplinary patient care
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, critical care, hospitalist, and surgical teams
• Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record

Required Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
• Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery preferred
• Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
• Current ATLS certification
• Demonstrated trauma and acute care surgery experience
• Strong clinical decision-making and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
