Locum Tenens Hospitalist with ICU/Critical Care — West Branch, MI (7-on/7-off)

Join a busy community hospital in West Branch, Michigan, where you’ll provide inpatient and ICU care on a 7-on/7-off schedule. This locum opportunity is ideal for a hospitalist who’s comfortable managing critically ill adults and performing a wide range of ICU procedures in a hands-on setting.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide full-spectrum inpatient hospitalist and ICU care for adult patients, including ventilator management and treatment of respiratory failure.
• Admit, round, consult, and discharge patients daily, and respond to patient emergencies.
• Take nighttime call as part of your shift responsibilities.
• Work closely with nurses, respiratory therapists, specialty consultants, and ancillary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
• Document promptly and accurately in Epic using Dragon dictation.

Schedule & logistics

• Location: West Branch, MI
• Practice setting: 100% inpatient
• Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
• Shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM with additional nighttime call duties
• Orientation: one day
• Proctoring: two to three days onsite; five successfully proctored cases required for each procedure that needs hospital privileges
• EMR: Epic; Dragon dictation supported

Procedures you should be comfortable performing

• Moderate sedation and assessment for intubation
• Endotracheal intubation and extubation; ventilator management and weaning
• Paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Chest tube insertion and management of tension pneumothorax
• PICC and central venous line placement
• Arterial line insertion and removal
• Lumbar puncture
• Tracheostomy care, including tube changes
• External pacing (temporary epicardial, transvenous, and transcutaneous)

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
• Substantial critical care/ICU experience required
• Current ACLS certification
• Active Michigan medical license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
