Job Summary:
Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is seeking a Hospice and Palliative Residency Program Director.
Qualified Candidates:
- The incoming physician must be board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of prior clinical practice of hospice and palliative medicine
- Applicants must have record involvement in education and scholarly activities, which included mentoring fellows, serving as clinical supervisor in an inpatient or outpatient setting, developing curricula, and / or participating in didactic activities
- Prior academic leadership appointments and / or experience per the ACGME programs ideal
- Clinical duties are focus primarily on outpatient hospice and palliative care
- Manage 2 fellows per year
- Will be responsible for administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary action; supervision of residents; and resident education in the context of patient care
- Be willing to combine clinical, administrative and teaching responsibilities
- Have strong administrative and team building skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Have a current, or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in South Carolina - not subject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditions
- No history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state or jurisdiction
- Have current, unrestricted DEA registration
Responsibilities will include:
- Authority and accountability for the operation of the Hospice and Palliative Residency Program
- Development of curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program
- Maintaining ACGME accreditation and state approval
- Recruiting residents into the program and developing evaluation process for performance
- Participating in competency evaluations of residents
- Additional responsibilities to ensure program of excellence
- Strong, committed faculty team with deep experience and knowledge
- Oversight of Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), Annual Program Evaluation (APE), development and monitoring of program action plan, Milestones, case logs, ADS updates, and Graduate Medical Education Committee reporting.
- Faculty development, core faculty engagement, and evaluation systems.
- Resident well-being, professionalism, supervision, and learning environment.
- Quality Improvement/patient safety integration and scholarly activity.
- Board pass performance and clinical competency outcomes.
- Will be responsible for administration and operations; teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary action; supervision of residents and resident education in the context of patient care
