Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for performing hearing screenings on newborns and recording results in the patient's chart. Tracks data, maintains equipment, and orders supplies as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Perform newborn hearing screenings for the nursery and NICU
- Hearing screenings must be performed within the first 48 hours of birth
- Tech must follow all hospital rules and guidelines and be team players in the unit
- Tech will provide emotional and mental support to the parents, especially if the newborn has an abnormal hearing screening
- Tech should be extremely careful while taking care of the babies and performing the hearing screenings
- Tech will maintain all required registries and necessary reporting, and will arrange for appropriate referrals as hearing screenings necessitate
Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma
- BLS certification required.
