Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery PA/NP - Weekend & Vacation Coverage, First Assist (Lexington, KY)

We are seeking a Locum Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Provider to deliver primarily weekend coverage and vacation relief in Lexington, KY. The provider will support cardiothoracic surgical services with a strong emphasis on first-assist duties in major cardiac and thoracic operations and will manage perioperative, ICU, and telemetry care.

Key responsibilities

• First-assist in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures, including CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, and lung resections
• Provide OR support and participate in perioperative management
• Manage patients in the ICU and telemetry units
• Perform inpatient rounding, procedures, and surgical duties
• Provide cross-coverage for weekends and vacation periods

Schedule and coverage

• Primarily weekend coverage with vacation relief
• 24-hour coverage blocks
• Approximately 1-2 call days per week; about one weekend of call per month
• Weekend call typically runs Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM

Requirements

• Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with prior cardiothoracic surgery experience
• Proficiency as a first assistant in cardiac and thoracic cases
• Comfortable managing OR, ICU, and telemetry responsibilities
• Active Kentucky license
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• DEA registration
