Locums Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon - Ogden, UT (24-Hour Call, Level II Trauma)

We’re looking for an experienced cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon to provide 24-hour locum call coverage at a Level II Trauma Center in Ogden, Utah. This is a hands-on opportunity for a surgeon comfortable managing both cardiac and thoracic cases and working independently within a busy hospital environment.

Position highlights

• Schedule: 24-hour call coverage
• Trauma designation: Level II Trauma Center
• EMR: Meditech
• Typical patient volume: ~10-12 patients per week
• Consults: ~3-5 per week
• Surgical volume: ~1-3 cases per week (usually 1 cardiac case and 2-3 thoracic cases)
• Annual cardiac volume: ~80 cases
• Hospital provides a vein harvest team

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour call coverage for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients
• Evaluate, triage, and manage pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients
• Perform cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures as needed
• Respond to consults and make timely surgical recommendations
• Collaborate with hospital staff and the broader surgical care team
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Meditech

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery
• Active Utah medical license required
• Active Utah DEA required
• Demonstrated experience with both cardiovascular and thoracic procedures
• Comfortable providing independent call coverage in a Level II Trauma Center
