Locum Gastroenterologist - Hospital-Based Weekend Call Coverage (Richmond, VA)

We are seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist to provide hospital-based locums coverage in Richmond, Virginia. This role is ideal for a physician seeking consistent, primarily weekend 24-hour call shifts in a well-supported hospital with low daily patient volume.

Position details

• Setting: Hospital-based inpatient service
• Schedule: 24-hour shifts (7:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m.), approximately 12 days per month, primarily weekends
• Average patient volume: ~3 consults per day
• EMR: Meditech

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and 24-hour call coverage
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a range of GI conditions
• Perform procedures as clinically indicated
• Collaborate closely with hospitalists, nursing, and ancillary teams
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR

Qualifications

• Board certified in Gastroenterology
• Active Virginia medical license or ability to obtain one
• DEA and CSR or ability to obtain
• Prior inpatient GI and call experience preferred
