Locum Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon - Level II Trauma Center (Amarillo, TX)

This Level II Trauma Center within a 495-bed acute care hospital is seeking an experienced locum physician to provide ongoing, shift-based coverage in a collaborative multidisciplinary practice. Typical coverage and expectations

• In-house trauma coverage and Acute Care Surgery (ACS) coverage on scheduled shifts
• 24-hour shifts including call; 30-minute callback response time when on backup call
• Participate in trauma activations and multidisciplinary patient management
• Evaluate and manage trauma and emergency general surgery patients
• Provide operative and non-operative management of traumatic injuries and ACS consultations/procedures
• Collaborate closely with emergency medicine, critical care, hospitalist, and surgical teams
• Accurate documentation of patient encounters in the facility’s electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
• Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery preferred
• Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain one
• Current ATLS certification
• Demonstrated trauma and acute care surgery experience and strong clinical decision-making in fast-paced settings
