Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for locum tenens coverage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The ideal candidate will have strong cardiovascular surgery experience and must have endoscopic vein harvesting experience. The provider will support the cardiovascular surgery team with inpatient management, surgical assistance, and outpatient responsibilities.

Schedule & Coverage

• Start Date: October 28, 2026

• Coverage approximately 1–2 days per week

• Schedule based on team needs

• Call responsibilities may include:

  • Weeknight call

  • Night call

  • 24-hour call coverage

Clinical Responsibilities

• Assist cardiovascular surgeons with surgical procedures

• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (required)

• Manage inpatient cardiovascular surgery patients

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care

• Perform patient evaluations and follow-ups

• Assist with rounding and consults

• Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams

• Complete documentation in Epic

Patient Volume

• Inpatient census: approximately 2–8 patients per day

• Clinic volume: approximately 2–8 patients when assigned

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin license required

• Facility cannot wait for state licensing

• Board Certified / nationally certified PA or NP

• Cardiovascular Surgery experience required

• Must be proficient in vein harvesting

• BLS certification required

• Eligible for hospital privileges and credentialing

• Epic EMR
