Job Description
We are seeking an Anesthesiologist for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Pennsylvania. This position offers competitive compensation, weekday shifts, weeknight call, and 24-hour weekend call coverage.
Providers will work in a care team model, performing solo anesthesia cases and supervising CRNAs. The caseload consists primarily of inpatient procedures, including orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, podiatry, urology, and labor and delivery.
Schedule and Call
- Weekday shifts: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Weeknight call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Weekend call: 24-hour coverage, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
- Estimated coverage: 20 shifts per month
- On-call providers must remain within 20 minutes of the facility and be able to respond in person to emergencies within 30 minutes.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage solo cases from pre-op through completion, approximately 50% of the time.
- Supervise CRNAs for approximately 50% of cases, with a supervision ratio of 1:3 to 1:4.
- Provide anesthesia for general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, podiatry, urology, and labor and delivery.
- Participate in scheduled weekday and weekend call coverage.
Case Restrictions:
- No pediatric cases under age 13 in the OR.
- No open-heart, neurological, or cardiac anesthesia cases.
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Active Pennsylvania license or willingness to obtain one
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- DEA required before starting
