Job Description
We are seeking Anesthesiologists for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Pennsylvania. This position offers competitive compensation, travel coverage, and a collaborative care team environment with a mix of independent anesthesia cases and CRNA supervision.
Providers will primarily support inpatient surgical services, with opportunities to provide weekday shift coverage, weeknight call, and 24-hour weekend call.
Schedule
- Full-time coverage with an estimated 60 shifts per month
- 8-hour shifts: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
- 10-hour shifts: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Weeknight call: 5:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Weekend call: 24-hour coverage, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
Clinical Responsibilities
Providers will work in a care team model consisting of approximately 50% solo cases and 50% CRNA supervision. Responsibilities include managing patients from preoperative evaluation through completion of anesthesia care and supervising CRNAs at a ratio of approximately 1:3 to 1:4.
Typical cases include:
- Orthopedics
- General surgery
- Gynecology
- Podiatry
- Urology
- Labor and delivery (OB)
Approximately 85% of the workload is inpatient.
Case exclusions: No pediatric OR cases for patients under age 13, no open-heart surgery, no neurological cases, and no cardiac anesthesia.
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
- Familiarity with Epic is required
- Active Pennsylvania medical license or willingness to obtain one
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- DEA required
