Locum Tenens Hospitalist Physician - Petoskey, MI (Dec 1, 2026-Jun 30, 2027)

We’re looking for a Board-Certified Hospitalist to join a locum tenens team in Petoskey, Michigan. This hospital-based role focuses on daytime care for adult inpatients, managing both acute and chronic medical issues and working closely with nursing and allied health staff to coordinate treatment and discharges. Ideal candidates are experienced in Internal Medicine and comfortable caring for adult patients outside the ICU/CCU setting.

Schedule & practice highlights

• Shift: Day shifts, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Initial frequency: One shift every four weeks, transitioning to every other week beginning in December
• Weekend coverage: Required
• Coverage period: December 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027
• Setting: Hospital-based inpatient medicine (no ICU/CCU coverage)
• EHR: Cerner
• On-call: Not specified

Key responsibilities

• Provide daytime inpatient medical care for adult patients
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans and adjust them as patients progress
• Coordinate care and discharge planning with nursing staff and other members of the healthcare team
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in Cerner
• Support continuity of care throughout the hospital stay

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board certification required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Active DEA registration
