Locum Tenens OB/GYN Physician - Hospital-Based L&D & ED Coverage (Lansing, MI)

We are seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN for locum tenens coverage at a hospital-based practice in Lansing, Michigan. This role provides comprehensive 24/7 obstetric and gynecologic call coverage - including labor & delivery, emergency department response, urgent surgical care, and emergent clinic consultations - working with two nurse practitioners and the hospital care team.

Schedule

• 24-hour call shifts, coverage every fifth week
• Coverage period: September 2026 through January 2, 2027; exact dates to be determined
• Weekend coverage required
• Includes 24/7 hospital coverage with 2 hours of gratis patient care per shift

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide labor and delivery care for low-risk pregnancies and vaginal deliveries
• Perform Cesarean sections and manage urgent obstetric surgical needs
• Respond to obstetric and gynecologic emergencies in the ED
• Repair third- and fourth-degree perineal lacerations
• Manage vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC) patients
• Perform obstetric ultrasounds and amniocentesis
• Triage emergent clinic consultations to determine need for hospital admission
• Collaborate closely with nurse practitioners and multidisciplinary staff

Practice details

• Hospital-based setting covering Labor & Delivery, ED, Surgical Services, and emergent clinic consultations
• Average volume: approximately 4 deliveries per day
• EHR: Cerner
• Support: two nurse practitioners on site

Requirements

• Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Active Michigan medical license
• Minimum two years of OBGYN experience
• Demonstrated competence in vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, VBAC, and obstetric emergencies
• Proficiency repairing third- and fourth-degree lacerations
• Experience with obstetric ultrasound and amniocentesis
