Locums Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon (PRN) - Richmond, VA

Seeking a Board-Certified orthopedic surgeon with trauma fellowship training for ongoing PRN locum tenens coverage in the Richmond, VA area. Provide inpatient orthopedic trauma coverage at a busy Level I Trauma Center: call shifts, operative care, consultations, and inpatient rounding.

Schedule

• Ongoing PRN coverage to fill call schedule gaps
• 24-hour on-site call shifts (including overnight)
• Typical patient volume: ~8 patients per shift

Facility

• 460+ bed acute care hospital; Level I Trauma Center and Level I Burn Center
• Emergency Department: 95,000+ annual visits, dedicated pediatric ED, dual helipads
• 15+ ORs, including robotic capability
• Established orthopedic trauma team (physicians and APPs)
• Electronic medical records: Meditech (inpatient), eClinicalWorks (outpatient)

Core responsibilities

• Provide on-site orthopedic trauma call coverage
• Evaluate and manage inpatient orthopedic trauma consultations
• Perform operative management of fractures and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries
• Conduct inpatient rounding and coordinate multidisciplinary care
• Collaborate with orthopedic trauma surgeons and advanced practice providers

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• Orthopedic trauma fellowship training
• Active Virginia medical license or ability to obtain one
