Locums Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon - Night/Inpatient Coverage, Richmond VA (On-site)

We are seeking a Board-Certified orthopedic trauma physician for a locum tenens assignment providing on-site inpatient coverage at a hospital in North Chesterfield (greater Richmond), Virginia. This position involves management of orthopedic trauma consultations and operative care, inpatient rounding, and overnight call coverage.

• On-site inpatient coverage with night call required
• Typical volume: ~8 patients/day
• Inpatient EMR: Meditech; Outpatient EMR: eClinicalWorks (eCW)

Core responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage orthopedic trauma patients in the emergency department and on the wards
• Provide surgical treatment and postoperative care for orthopedic trauma cases
• Perform inpatient rounds and ensure continuity of care
• Respond to overnight trauma needs while on call
• Collaborate effectively with emergency medicine, hospitalists, and other multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• Demonstrated orthopedic trauma experience
• Active Virginia medical license preferred (required prior to start)
