Locums Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician - Pasadena, TX (Level III, No Call)

Join a busy, fast-paced Emergency Department in Pasadena, TX as a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician. You’ll work standard ED shifts with no call responsibilities, caring for an urban, middle-class patient population with moderate to high acuity and complex pathology.

Schedule & setting

• Standard emergency department shifts; no call.
• Main ED ~30 treatment spaces.
• Patient volumes: ~115 patients/day at the main ED and ~70 patients/day at the FSED.
• Trauma designation: Level III.
• Physicians at the main ED focus on moderate- to high-acuity patients rather than low-acuity cases.

What you’ll do

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting to the ED.
• Manage moderate- to high-acuity and complex emergency cases.
• Perform common and critical emergency procedures, such as intubation, central line and chest tube placement, conscious sedation, fracture reduction, and laceration repair.
• Provide other standard emergency procedures as clinically indicated.
• Coordinate care with consultants and inpatient teams, and determine appropriate disposition (admit, transfer, or discharge).
• Provide timely, accurate clinical documentation.

Patient volume & resources

• Main ED: ~115 patients/day with an admission rate around 25%.
• FSED: ~70 patients/day with an admission rate around 5%.
• Specialty consults consistent with Level III trauma availability.
• OB services available.
• In-house intensivist and hospitalist services to support patient care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO.
• ABEM certification required.
• Active Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
