Locums Emergency Medicine Physician - Overland Park, KS

Location: Overland Park, Kansas

Schedule

• Rotational shifts (morning, mid, night); varied hours
• 9-hour shifts; day and night coverage needed
• Weekends and nights as required
• No call coverage
• Orientation: 2-day shadow / 2 orientation shifts with EMR training

Position requirements

• ABEM board certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience
• Active Kansas medical license and DEA required

Emergency Department

• 24 ED beds + 7 vertical pathway spaces + 2 intake rooms
• Volume ~1.6-1.8 patients/hour (~40,000 annual ED visits)
• Patient acuity primarily ESI 2-3; ~35% admission rate
• Level II Trauma Center
• Daytime minimum staffing: 1 physician + 1 APP; nurse/APP triage for lower-acuity patients
• Fast-paced, high-efficiency ED supported by standard ER clinical staff (critical care nurses, techs, APPs)

Facility

• 190-bed acute care hospital serving Overland Park and Leawood
• Accredited Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center with rapid response protocols
• Advanced tech: remote ECG monitoring, electronic medication management
• Diverse patient population in an affluent community

Additional coverage

• Primary assignment at the main ED
• Two associated freestanding ERs (FSERs) see ~13-17 patients/day each; some shifts may be allocated to FSERs (TBD)

Compensation / logistics

• All travel expenses reimbursed 100% on top of rate (flights, hotel, rental or mileage, tolls, parking, etc.)
• Dedicated 24/7 locums consultant to manage credentialing and scheduling
