Locum Tenens General Orthopedic Surgeon - Elective Adult Reconstruction (Williamson County, IL)

Location: Williamson County, Illinois

Position summary:
Locums Orthopedic Surgeon to establish and grow a high-volume elective adult reconstruction practice within an established health system. Role focuses on elective cases with limited acute/fracture coverage and transfers of complex trauma to in-system orthopedic traumatologists. Strong institutional support includes dedicated APP coverage, OR block time, hospitalist-managed inpatient admissions, and administrative/clinical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and lead an elective adult reconstruction practice.
• Perform elective orthopedic surgeries (primary focus on adult reconstruction).
• Manage a limited number of acute orthopedic and fracture cases.
• Coordinate care with APPs, hospitalists, and orthopedic subspecialists for complex trauma transfers.
• Collaborate to develop referral networks and grow surgical volume.

Clinical resources and schedule:

• Dedicated OR block time, Monday-Friday.
• Dedicated Advanced Practice Provider support.
• Hospitalist team handles most inpatient admissions.
• Complex trauma and major fractures transferred to orthopedic traumatology specialists.

Requirements:

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure and hospital privileges.
• Willingness and interest in building/growing an elective orthopedic surgery practice.
• Comfortable managing a limited acute orthopedic/fracture caseload.

• Experience developing referral networks and growing elective surgical volume.
• Commitment to patient-centered, high-quality orthopedic care.

• Above-market hourly rate per 24-hour shift.
