Job Description

Join a busy, collaborative orthopedic trauma team in San Jose, California. We’re looking for an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide hands-on care for orthopedic trauma patients at a Level II Trauma Center that handles roughly 600 orthopedic trauma cases each year. You’ll split time between inpatient surgical care and outpatient follow-up in a high-acuity setting, working closely with orthopedic trauma surgeons and the rest of the clinical team.

Compensation: $140,000

What you’ll do

  • Evaluate and manage patients with a range of orthopedic trauma injuries.
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care, including preoperative and postoperative management.
  • Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient recovery.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures as needed and within your scope of practice.
  • Lead inpatient rounds and coordinate care with nursing staff and consulting specialists.
  • Manage outpatient follow-up visits to assess healing, guide rehabilitation, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families about treatment expectations, recovery, and follow-up care.

Why this role is compelling

  • Work in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment alongside experienced trauma surgeons.
  • Make an immediate clinical impact managing a significant volume of orthopedic trauma cases.
  • Balance meaningful inpatient work with continuity in outpatient follow-up care.

What we’re looking for

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current national certification as a PA or NP.
  • Active California license.
  • Prior experience in orthopedic trauma or a related high-acuity surgical setting is preferred.
