Job Description
We are seeking a Trauma Surgeon for a full-time locum tenens opportunity in Pennsylvania. This full-time inpatient position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care services at a Level III trauma center.
Overview
- Approximately 12 shifts per month
- 24-hour primary, backup, and split-call shifts available
- Comprehensive trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care responsibilities
- Epic Bridges EMR
- Travel, lodging, airfare, and rental car assistance available
- Ongoing coverage need due to a turnover vacancy
Responsibilities
The locum physician will provide comprehensive trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care services, including
- Initial trauma evaluation, resuscitation, and management of trauma alerts
- FAST examinations and diagnostic peritoneal aspiration
- Emergency operative management of traumatic injuries
- Management of acute general surgical conditions
- Surgical critical care and management of critically ill patients
- Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
- Central venous catheter and arterial line placement
- Inpatient rounding, consultations, and emergency surgical procedures
- Stabilization and transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care
Requirements
- MD or DO
- Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Active Pennsylvania medical license or IMLC
- Current ATLS, ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- DEA registration
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
