Overnight Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA - Night Fly-In Role (Rapid City, SD) $210K

We’re seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a cardiothoracic surgery team in Rapid City, South Dakota, providing overnight coverage in a well-resourced hospital. This role supports patients across the ICU and inpatient cardiothoracic ward and offers a predictable schedule, competitive pay, and a full benefits package.

Schedule & compensation

• Night shift: 5:00 PM - 6:30 AM
• 14 shifts per month (two weeks on, two weeks off)
• Annual salary: $210,000
• Full benefits package

Clinical setting & patient volume

• Practice in a highly resourced hospital with strong multidisciplinary support
• Coverage spans the cardiothoracic surgery ward and the ICU
• Typical nightly census:
  • 3-6 ICU patients
  • 10-15 inpatients

What you’ll do

• Provide overnight clinical coverage for cardiothoracic surgery patients in both the ICU and inpatient units
• Perform assessments, manage ongoing care, and respond to acute changes in clinical status
• Monitor patients closely and intervene as needed to maintain stability
• Coordinate care and communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
• Ensure smooth continuity of care by relaying clear clinical updates to the daytime team

Who we’re looking for

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant eligible for South Dakota licensure
• Experience in ICU or cardiac care is required; cardiothoracic surgery or critical care experience is strongly preferred
• BLS and ACLS required; acute-care specialty certification is a plus
