Established in 1855, Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center (MSVMC) was the first hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Today, MSVMC is the critical-care regional referral center and teaching center within the Mercy Health system, a seven hospital, faith-based system serving northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The medical center is a Level I Trauma Center that holds the highest designation for treating high-risk mothers and babies with a Level III NICU. MSVMC also received the highest level of accreditation in stroke care with the Joint Commission's Advanced Certification for Comprehensive Stroke Center accreditation. In partnership with the University of Toledo Medical Center and St Rita's Medical Center MSVMC operates a 6 helicopter air-ambulance serving Toledo, Wauseon, Bluffton, and Clyde the primary means of critical care transports in the region.
