Why Woodland Park?

With an elevation of 8,400+ feet and more then 245 sun-filled days per year, it’s no wonder that Woodland Park has earned a nickname as the “City Above the Clouds.” If you love crisp mountain air and the spectacular view of rigid peaks scraping the deep blue skies, then Woodland Park could be your dream home. This quaint, wonderful city has a population of about 7,500 people, and a habit of turning first-time visitors into full-time residents. A lovely town full of adventure, warmth and charm – with great restaurants, nightlife and activities, too – this city is a wonderful place to call home.

Life in Woodland Park

Nightlife

Although Woodland Park is smaller than some of its surrounding cities, there is always something to do after the sun sets. Whether you love delicious food, live music, bars and pubs, or simply catching a great movie at the local theater, there is something for everyone. Grab a drink at BierWerks Brewery, a local craft brewery that offers wonderful service and a casual atmosphere. Or, check out one of Woodland Park’s many restaurants, such as Carmen, which is known for gourmet tapas made from fresh, organic produce.

Restaurants

Enjoy eating out? Woodland Park offers many wonderful options. For breakfast or lunch, locals love Joanie’s Bakery, which has a large selection of delightful breakfast options, soups, salads and sandwiches in a cozy, welcoming environment. Other locals may take the 17-mile journey to Colorado Springs, where there is a countless array of dining options. While there is not a single cuisine that stands out more than most in Woodland Park, restaurants do offer a wide variety to satisfy everyone’s cravings. From Mexican to Japanese and pizza parlors to burger joints, you can find anything you’re looking for here!

Shopping

Woodland Park is home to a few favorite shops, such as Cowhand, a 52-year-old retailer that offers all things Western, including clothes, boots, hats and more, as well as Team Telecycle, a popular little bike shop that rents and sells anything you may need for biking in the mountains. Also be sure to check out Brenda’s Boutique & Consignments for upscale cabin decor and apparel.

Weather

Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, Woodland Park has an alpine, subarctic climate which results in longer, cooler winters and shorter, more mild summers. The weather is very pleasant most of the time, with summers that don’t get too hot and winters that are very dry and beautiful. There may be some snowstorms, as we are located in the mountains, but snow does not normally last too long. Compared to cities at lower altitudes, the summers are much cooler and very comfortable; plus, with more than 245 days of sunshine a year, the city is perfect for outdoor adventures during any season.
