Outstanding opportunity for an experienced Trauma Medical Director with proven and respected leadership skills to become the Trauma System Medical Director for Banner Health. This position will provide high-level trauma leadership and oversight for the 10 trauma centers that currently comprise the Banner Trauma System in Arizona, including two ACS verified Level 1 trauma centers. In addition, the individual will be the Director of the Center for Trauma and Critical Care Surgery in the Institute for Critical Illness and Injury at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix. The Trauma System Medical Director will have a faculty appointment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix with the appointment being consistent with the candidate's academic credentials. It is expected that the successful candidate will be qualified to be the Division Chief of Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years' experience as a Trauma Medical Director at an ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center. The ideal candidate should have national trauma organization experience including preferably with ACS-COT experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and the individual should have experience leading teams and providing clear vision to successful teams. An understanding of trauma systems and inter-facility interactions is advantageous. With the proper leadership, the Banner trauma system is expected to grow in accordance with the system medical director’s vision. The position will have 50% clinical and 50% Leadership non-clinical protected time to facilitate leadership, education, and research success.
